INCLEMENT WEATHER POLICY
The Church always wants to make the Sacraments as available to the faithful as
possible. At the same time, it is contrary to prudence not to adjust their availability if
circumstances such as inclement weather pose safety risks to those who wish to make use of
them. In light of this, we at St. Gabriel have established the following guidelines concerning
adjustments that may occur when the weather is inclement:
Before all else, please note that the faithful are not obliged to travel to Mass if doing so
poses a serious risk to safety. Missing Mass on these occasions is not a sin; in fact, it is morally
prudent.
1) During the school year when school is in session, if there is a “snow day,” daily Mass will
be moved to noon and Confessions will be available 30 minutes before.
2) Adoration will be in the Adoration Chapel and Confessions will not be cancelled unless
explicitly stated. If you are committed to an hour, you are not expected to be able to
make it here for your hour(s) of Adoration.
3) If there is any doubt, please look for updates and the most accurate information on our
website, social media accounts, and through Flocknote messaging. You of course may
also call the office.
